For many women, menopause brings relief from monthly periods, freedom from worry about unplanned pregnancy, and excitement about entering a new phase of life. For many others, menopause brings physical and emotional upheaval linked to changes occurring as the female body makes its transition out of the child-bearing years.
Menopause is when a woman’s menstrual periods stop altogether. A woman is said to have gone through the menopause when her menstrual periods have stopped for an entire year.
The physical and emotional signs and symptoms have been known for some women to span between 1 & 10yrs! For some women the symptoms associated can be extremely stressful and can greatly affect their day to day life.
- Hot Flushes
- Irregular periods
- Vaginal dryness
- Headaches/ increased anxiety and/or depression
- Lack of concentration, irritability, insomnia,
to name but a few!
So why do some women seem to sail through menopause and others have so many symptoms?
As we all know we are all different and our bodies deal with hormonal changes in different ways. There are also many things that affect the way we experience menopause, it is not just because of declining oestrogen levels that we experience symptoms – it’s much more complex than that.
Herbal medicine is extremely well suited in helping balance hormonal changes. For most women taking Black Cohosh or Sage over the counter just isn’t enough, and many women find that HRT does not suit them. At Foreman & Jones we conduct a thorough consultation to explore the symptoms you are experiencing and how you are feeling and a medicine is prescribed specifically for you. You may be interested to know that we treat many women with hormonal complaints and there are over 40 herbs which can be helpful.
We endeavour to improve your body’s functioning so that your hormones are balanced and you can then stop taking your herbal medicine and are left symptom free.
